Sunset by the River

By Sameer Saxena

This is a thriller book that you’ll realise later in the story. The protagonist of the story Ayan was living a blissful life in Japan when a call from India shatters his life. He gets the news that someone close to him has gone missing which requires him to return to India. Ayan’s past is uncovered as he explains everything to Hitesh, his closest friend in Japan.

The story starts off as a love story when Ayan tells about his life in India to Hitesh but soon becomes a mysterious one when Ayan sets off to find the missing person. As the story progresses two very important characters Monisha and Tripti are introduced to us. In the last part the author has dealt with a very important issue of mental illness. I am not mentioning the name cause it will spoil the story as bit.

While reading the first part I felt some parts were extended unnecessarily but apart from that this story is very wholesome. I liked reading this one as there were layers in the story as well as in some characters. Also I think the awareness about mental illness and the stigma around it that the author has expressed is very impressive.
