10 great writers of all time

Literature surpasses geographical boundaries and language barriers, even through translations the emotions of the author expressed in the writings remain the same. To quote a loved movie “Savor language and words because no matter what anyone tells you, words and ideas have the power to change the world”, so here are top 10 authors whose works I think possessed this power:

1.Jane Austen

She was born at a time when women had to fight for their rights and so did she. Her novels have strong female protagonists who are not afraid of the society and hold their own ground. She mainly wrote romantic literature but all her stories have a hint of the struggles that she and women of her generation may have experienced. Her most famous works are “Pride and Prejudice” and “Sense and Sensibility”.

2.Charles Dickens

He is referred as the greatest English novelist of the Victorian era. His books are of different types,like Oliver Twist is the story of an orphan boy who’s early life was full of struggle but later he turned it into a perfect one, while Christmas Carol captures the festive essence.

3.Jules Verne

This French author is a master of science fiction with extraordinary adventures compiled in it. His works include “Around the world in eighty days” and “2000 leagues under the sea”.

4.William Shakespeare

The most famous author of all time and inspiration of many inspirational authors. A great playwright and poet who gave us numerous amazing literature like “Macbeth”, “Sonnet 18”, “Romeo Juliet” among others.

5.J.R.R Tolkein

An eminent fantasy writer with “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” to his credit. His books even had some new language to give authentication to the fantasy beings community.

6.Rabindranath Tagore

This Bengali novelist was man of many talents, who played a major role in renaissance of the Indian literature and also a Nobel laureate. His famous works are “Gitanjali” , “Kabuliwala” among others.

7.Satyajit Roy

He was a phenomenal director and a writer who gave us the most famous Bengali detective Feluda. He also wrote “Incredible Adventures of Professor Shonku”. His writings are loved by people of all ages.

8. Agatha Christie

She’s probably a world’s best mystery writer who did extraordinary research on different techniques and elements before including them in her books, which makes her writing very practical and authentic. Hercules Poirot, a famous detective is one of her creations.

9.A.C.Doyle

A physician turned writer, who gave the world Sherlock Holmes, a master of deduction and logic. The intricate details in Mr.Doyles works makes it one of kind.

10.Edgar Allan Poe

This list would be incomplete without him. He’s works are most unique, made of melancholy and macabre laced with mystery. This somehow made the darkness romantic and alluring to the readers. His most eminent work is “The Raven”.
